David and Nicki called me to ask whether I could be their photographer for their wedding at the Datai resort in Langkawi. This is a beautiful location for beach weddings and is fairly secluded from the rest of the resort. Having the wedding in the evening meant we could photograph some lovely portraits as the sun set. It was a lot of fun and we all got tanned!

Chef Martin Yan was in Malaysia to shoot a series of shows for the Asian Food Channel called Asian Favorites. The link to the show can be found here and you will see a lot more photos I took for them. I wanted to put up some of the behind the scenes photos on my web site as it goes to show all the behind people and work that goes into a TV show like this. Guest chefs on the show included Chef Datuk Fazley Yaakob and Vietnamese Chef Hoang Minh Nhat.
On TV and movie sets anyone using a camera MUST be silent otherwise the sound of the camera will be picked up on the microphones. There are two ways of doing this. The traditional method was to use a large and unwieldy sound proof casing known as a blimp. The second method is to use a mirrorless camera like Fujifilms excellent X-Series cameras. These are small, silent, and very easy to handle. Image quality is also superb. The Fujifilm X-T2 as my camera of choice on set.

This beautiful destination wedding was at the Four Seasons Beach resort in Langkawi. It turned out to be a wet and blustery day with the weather not knowing what it was going to do. The big question was whether it would rain or not. We started with portraits around the resort and then waited for some passing showers (could we call these “bridal showers”?) then we headed for the beach for the wedding ceremony. The weather held off long enough for the small intimate wedding to be completed but you will notice everyone’s hair was being blown every which way. The brides gown and veil were exquisite! The nephew and niece played their part and were absolute darlings! The wind and rain added a whole new dimension to shooting a wedding at the Four Seasons! Langkawi never disappoints.

Douglas Lim and Valerie contacted me to be the actual day wedding photographer for their church wedding and wedding banquet at the Concorde hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Douglas is a well known stand up comedian and actor. You may also have seen him as host on NTV 7’s The Breakfast Show. His lovely wife Valerie is a bubbly joyful lady, and owner of Cleo, Valerie’s Labrador played a prominent part in their wedding, being the official mascot of the day.
The roof comes off this wedding car!

Mark and Pam contacted me to be the photographer for their wedding at St John’s Cathedral in central Kuala Lumpur. Pam looked stunning in her wedding saree and as can be seen in the walk in photos, there was a large entourage of children as bridesmaids, flower girls, page boys etc. The photos below are from their portrait style montage album.
