Fujifilm X-Pro1 as a wedding camera

A heavy kick of rice wine in traditional Kadazan bamboo cups shot with the Fuji X-Pro1 and XF35mm F1.4 R shot at 1/50 sec F1.4 ISO2000 Back in September I covered a wedding in Kota Kinabalu and had the FujiFilm X-Pro1 along with me. While relying on my main DSLRs I wanted to test out the viability of using Fuji’s retro styled camera for weddings. My background was from way back when we used film, including the Leica M series of cameras. Since those days cameras have gotten bigger andView full post »

Ryan and Rebecca’s Wedding at St Thomas Church and the Hyatt Regency, Kuantan

The beautiful bride Rebecca asked me to be her wedding photographer back in May this year. Like many of my out station brides the first time we met was the night before the wedding when we checked into our hotel. After that it was off to the rehearsal at St Thomas Church in the middle of Kuantan town. Rebecca’s family were most welcoming when we met them there and we went through the rehearsal with them. The next morning we kicked the actual wedding day off with family photos at their newView full post »

Mac and Kevin’s Wedding at Our Lady of Lourdes, Klang and Cyberview Lodge

Mac and Kevin approached me to be their wedding photographer earlier this year. it was a two day event with their Roman Catholic wedding at Our Lady of Lourdes in Klang, followed by lunch and their tea ceremony. It turned out to be one of the most fun tea ceremonies to date, possibly because lunch was so much fun. A few weeks later we were down at Cyberview Lodge to cover the official wedding banquet dinner. As you can see it was a lot of fun! Originally posted 2012-10-06 14:26:22.View full post »

Beautiful Kadazan Bride Sacred Heart Church Kota Kinabalu

Melissa and Donovan’s Wedding in Sacred Heart Cathedral and the Hyatt Hotel in Kota Kinabalu

Melissa and Donovan called me from Kota Kinabalu to ask whether I would be interested to fly over to be their wedding photographer for their big day in Sabah. Melissa is Kadazan which is an instant draw card for me. I have been the wedding photographer for a number of Sabahan’s in Kuala Lumpur and I have always enjoyed the traditional Sumazau dance which seems to get everyone up onto the dance floor regardless of race or religion. The church service was in Sacred Heart Cathedral.View full post »

Barry Wong’s Wedding at Calvary Church and Ciao Restaurant

Barry Wong’s wedding ceremony was performed at the  Calvary Church in Damansara Heights. As a long time member of the church and participant in the worship team, there were many family and friends in attendance as he made his wedding vows before God, to his stunning wife Alison, a stewardess with Singapore Airlines. This was one of the most touching weddings of 2012, and it was obvious Barry was head over heels in love with his wife. In the Christian tradition marriage is the highestView full post »

Jasmine and Francis celebrated their wedding in style with an out-door ceremony at Cyberview Lodge. The wedding ceremony included the release of some fairly “reluctant-to-fly” doves, and, as Francis was formerly of the Alley Cats, the evening was filled with wine, women and songs from many of the guests.   Originally posted 2012-01-21 15:08:20.View full post »

Colmar Tropical Berjaya Hill Resort Wedding

French Themed Wedding at the Colmar Tropicale Berjaya Hills Resort

Tim and Anna contacted me to be their photographer for their wedding at the Colmar Tropicale Berjaya Hill Resort near Genting. It was an outdoor wedding and the weather held up well. The hotel has a French theme and this was played upon for the dinner that followed later in the evening by the use of masks at the banquet. Sort of a masked dinner type theme. As you can see, everyone had a fun experience. Originally posted 2011-09-24 10:12:46.View full post »

Destination Beach Wedding at the Four Seasons Langkawi

Nice Day for a Wild Beach Wedding at the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi

Reg and Lisa chose to celebrate their day with a destination beach wedding at the Four Seasons Resort in Langkawi. It is easily my favourite beach wedding location. The afternoon kicked off with a Chinese Tea Ceremony in the Rhu bar. We then went to the Spa for wedding portraits before getting ready for the sunset beach wedding. As can be seen in a couple of the photos the sun was very low in the sky before we even got started, so the portraits were mostly photographed in the twilight.  TheView full post »

A wedding in City Harvest Church KL and dinner at the Holiday Inn Glenmarie

Kevin and Monica’s wedding was at the first City Harvest Church in Subang. The old building was never a great place to shoot, with everything  dark and blue, there being no windows whatsoever and the sewage aeration ponds across the road. Not nice! This is quite different from their new location which is such a nice set up for weddings that it is difficult to get a bad photo there. Despite that, it was always a favorite church to shoot in, being one of the more lively andView full post »

Wedding on Penang Hill

Stunning Chinese Styled wedding on Penang Hill

Amy and Henry’s wedding ceremony and dinner were on top of Penang hill. They had a TROPICAL 60’s theme.
