Andrew and Joanna’s Wedding at the Clandeboye Lodge, Bangor, Ireland

Andrew and Joanna contacted me to come over to Northern Ireland to be their wedding photographer. We had shot for some of their friends down here in Malaysia, where they met us the first time,Â and they loved our work so much (or maybe it was our comparatively cheap prices) that they were very keen for us to pop on over to Ireland. We stayed in a fantastic place in central Belfast called Benedicts Hotel. If you are headed to Belfast IÂ thoroughly recommend the place. Awesome cooked Irish breakfast every morning and the place is a party house every night with the pub usually packed and most Irish love to share a pint and have a chat. Sunday lunch features a traditional Irish band singing all the favourites. You can also hire aÂ car from fairly close by so you can go for a jaunt up the Antrim coast. Well worth it. I WILL be back.

The wedding was held outside Belfast in a small town called Bangor. Bangor had been on my list of places to visit since I was a kid thanks to a rollicking ditty by a group called “Fiddlers Dram”. The Clandeboye Lodge is a nice venue for weddings and has been set up to cater specifically for them. There is an upstairs area for ceremonies and another location for the reception/wedding breakfast. Both families were so much fun and we had a ball covering the day. Big thanks for a memorable time!

Final note: I LOVE Ireland. The Irish are some of the friendliest people I have ever met. If you are having a wedding in Ireland, do drop me a line.

Jonathan and Sonia – A Wedding for two at the Four Seasons Langkawi

Another lovely wedding at the Four Seasons Langkawi. Jonathon and Sonia wanted a small and private wedding…the smallest wedding we have covered, bride, groom and zero guests 🙂 It was a romantic interlude before heading back to the UK for the big party with all the friends and relatives. as their wedding photographers we were very privileged to enjoy their special and intimate wedding at one of our favourite photography locations, the Four Seasons Langkawi Beach Resort and Spa.

David and Nicki – Wedding at the Datai Langkawi

David and Nicki called me to ask whether I could be their photographer for their wedding at the Datai resort in Langkawi. This is a beautiful location for beach weddings and is fairly secluded from the rest of the resort. Having the wedding in the evening meant we could photograph some lovely portraits as the sun set. It was a lot of fun and we all got tanned!

Maryam and Hezran’s Malay Wedding Dinner at the Dewan Besar Tun Rahah in KL

Maryam and Hezran’s Malay wedding was held in Maryam’s home in KL and I have posted this elsewhere on this site. The following evening their wedding dinner was held at the Dewan Besar Tun Rahah on Jalan Bukit Bintang, which is a popular location for Malay weddings.

Please note the following images have been transferred from my old site when we were all “ Internet load speed” compromised. That is a fancy way of saying that they are of lower resolution than more recent weddings. Think of them as being “mobile device optimised” as they look great on the phone.

Maryam and Hezran’s Malay Wedding Nikah

Maryam and Hezran: Maryam looked absolutely splendid at her Akad Nikah (Malay wedding) in Kuala Lumpur. One of the things to notice with this wedding is that there were three of us shooting it, each in a different place so as to maximise coverage, as typically there is no room to manoeuvre during the wedding. I was inside the “L” shaped room in one of the corners so I could shoot the ceremony and guests by simply swivelling, one of my colleagues (John Woo) was ensconced in the mezzanine floor so he could snipe from there with a telephoto, whilst my other photographer (Lim Hock Seng) was OUTSIDE the room which enabled him to shoot through the windows from two different walls.

A little anecdote from this wedding: I was pleasantly surprised by one of Maryam’s relatives when he came up to say hello. I recognized that we had met a year or two earlier when he had bought my rather extensive medium format 6×6 camera system. If I recall correctly, I was quite interested in buying it back!
