Romantic Portraits at the Avillion Port Dixon

Tyler and Chin Vens pre-wedding portraits were taken at the Avillion in Port Dixon using black and white film. This was 2005 and the industry was in the middle of changing over from digital to film based photography. Film has a magical romantic quality all of its own.

Please note the following images have been transferred from my old site when we were all “Internet load speed” compromised. That’s a fancy way of saying that they are of lower resolution than more recent weddings. Think of them as being “mobile device optimized” as they should look great on your phone screen.

Jehan and Shariman’s Traditional Malay Wedding captured on black and white film

Jehan and Shariman’s traditional Malay wedding was shot on Black and White film and then scanned for this web site. It was a happy day for both of them and this is certainly apparent when you view the photos. Malaysia is a melting pot of foods and cultures and is one of the reasons I love living here. Traditions like Henna came from India and are commonplace at Malay weddings. The intricate patterns are quite something. The University of Maryland contacted me as they were keen on using some of them to show various wedding traditions of Malaysia and the region.

Please note that the apparent grainy-ness is due to the digital scanning of the original silver halide based negatives. The actual hand prints looked very smooth and had much deeper tonality than the digital images visible here.

Interior Design Photography taken with the Fujifilm X-T1 and 10-24mm

Recently I was asked to do an interior design shoot for a show home that is going to be featured in a European home style magazine. I brought along a full frame DSLR mounted on a tripod with the intention of shooting tethered composites using multi-flash. However as the shoot developed, and due to both time and constraints on positioning of the camera I reached into my bag and pulled out my trusty Fuji-film X-T1 and mounted the the very handy 10mm-24mm F4 lens. This lens gives a ultra wide angle view and benefits in being a rectilinear design, so the straight lines stay as straight lines. The photos below were all shot at F8 which gave good depth of field, great sharpness and lack of chromatic aberrations that can start coming in at F11 or higher.

I have been employed by many realtors as well as interior designers to showcase properties and real estate. This also includes 360 degree virtual tours.  These really give them a leg up in their very competitive industry.

Drop me a line if interested.
