David and Sally asked me to be the wedding photographer as they celebrated their big day in City Harvest Church (CHC) in Subang Jaya, Malaysia. This is the old church building. They have some lovely new facilities now. Good to see a church flourishing so well.

Lynette was with the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Kuala Lumpur when she contacted me to cover her wedding to her fiance Hamish. They decided to honor the traditions of both their heritages, and decided to have both a Hindu temple wedding and Roman Catholic ceremony. For the temple wedding Lynette and her friends all dressed up in sarees and looked very elegant. The ceremony was at the Sri Sakthi Easwary Temple in SS3. The Roman Catholic wedding was held at St Francis Xavier church (SFX) in Petaling Jaya. The wedding dinner banquet had to be held at only one place, Lynette’s place of work, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Their wedding was a joy to photograph and I still keep in contact with them.
For the photographers wanting to know what gear we were using in 2006, these photos were taken with the now rare Kodak Professional DCS Pro SLR/n, Canon 20D and the Nikon D200. Back then cameras really struggled with the mixed sodium and flourescent lighting in SFX (which is still bad in 2013) so black and white was often the way to go.

Ming and Ezane’s wedding was held at the luxury hotel Carcosa Seri Negara in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The hotel consists of two mansions dating from colonial times. They were the residence of the British Governor General and Queen Elizabeth has previously stayed there, making it a fairly exclusive place to hold a wedding. The name Carcosa Seri Negara is given to describe both venues as one building is named “Carcosa”, whilst the other is the “Seri Negara.” Many friends flew in from around the world to enjoy the wedding and dinner banquet.
Do note the date of this post. In 2006 we were shooting film and digital simultaneously. The black and white images were digitized from the film negatives. I used Ilford HP5 and Delta 3200 exposed at 1600ISO to take these photos with a Canon EOS 1V. Digital Capture was with the Canon 20D, and Nikon D200 and D2H. Shoes by Jimmy Choo.

Tyler and Chin Vens pre-wedding portraits were taken at the Avillion in Port Dixon using black and white film. This was 2005 and the industry was in the middle of changing over from digital to film based photography. Film has a magical romantic quality all of its own.
Please note the following images have been transferred from my old site when we were all “Internet load speed” compromised. That’s a fancy way of saying that they are of lower resolution than more recent weddings. Think of them as being “mobile device optimized” as they should look great on your phone screen.
