These shoots are usually for annual reports as well as web site usage. This photo shoot was for KPMG Malaysia and we decided to make this a fairly fun shoot for everyone, as is evident in the photos. Dac and Wai Pin ~ Wedding Photography at the Westin Langkawi

Sunset Photo at the Westin Beach Resort Hotel on Langkawi Dac and Wai Pin contacted me to be their wedding photographer for their Chinese/Vietnamese/Western fusion beach resort wedding at the Westin Hotel in Langkawi, Malaysia. Two very lovely families. The weather was all over the place with rain coming down during the portrait session, partly due to it being a crazy hot day that ended up with a pool party at the end of everything. John and Mindy’s Wedding at St John’s Cathedral & Royal Chulan

Sometimes you just need a womans touch. Mindy lends a helping hand to help John pop the cork! John and Mindy’s wedding was a fusion of both Chinese and Christian traditions. John and his friends did the traditional bargaining and collection of the bride before having a tea ceremony then off to church. The wedding was held in St. John’s Cathedral in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. It’s a nice church with stained glass windows and an airy atmosphere. Afterward the weddingView full post »

Wedding Portraits at St Johns Cathedral Kuala Lumpur

Yesterdays wedding in St Johns Cathedral

Just a quick post tonight. Yesterday afternoon we covered a wedding in St Johns Cathedral. Time was very tight  due to evening mass flooding in right after the service so before leaving from church to the hotel we squeezed off a quick set of portraits in less than 5 minutes. A wee bit of pressure but photos at the church are always nice to have!  No time for lighting to be set up so these are pretty much straight from camera. Fill lighting was sun light bouncing up from off the floor. ClassicView full post »

Beach Destination wedding photographer at Four Seasons Langkawi

Vanessa and Christopher – Beach Destination Wedding at Four Seasons Langkawi

Vanessa and Christopher’s weddign was on the beach at the Four Seasons on Langkawi. We started with mandatory portraiture around the resort before heading to the beach for the actual ceremony. The wedding dinner was at the Serai and was both stylish and awesome fun. Once it got dark the whole wedding party went down to the beach to set free hot air lanterns. A couple of weeks later we headed down to Melaka to photograph their wedding banquet for family who couldn’t make it. IView full post »

malay kampong wedding tanah merah kelantan

Malay Kampong Wedding in Tanah Merah Kelantan

One of the things I love about covering weddings in Malaysia is I get to travel all over this wonderful country and see every type of culture and wedding practice. Hanin and Azlina’s Malay wedding was held in a small kampong (village) in Tanah Merah, Kelantan. The village had the typical raised houses and “big family” feel. So EVERYONE came for the event. The house was decorated beautifully. The following day we were treated to a selat demonstrations (Malay martial arts) and IView full post »

PreWedding Portrait Photography in Bali

Bryan and Cheeleng’s prewedding portrait session was in Bali. It was a long hot day but it was so much fun. Bali is one of those classic destinations where you just can’t go wrong with its exotic locations and awesome scenery. I would have to admit we struggled with the lighting on this trip. The sun was relentless casting harsh light almost everywhere we went. Due to heavier traffic than expected we couldn’t wait it out at many of the destinations but overall we got someView full post »

Destination Beach Wedding at Pangkor Laut Resort, Malaysia

Pangkor Laut Resort – Lay May and Marcels Wedding Photos

Destination Beach Wedding at Pangkor Laut Resort, Malaysia Lay May and Marcel asked me to be their wedding photographer for their wedding at the Pangkor Laut Resort. We had fun shooting the photography for this wedding. Do note the extra studio style lights we put up under the pagoda for the ceremony. We did this to balance the shadowy area under the roof with the bright sunshine everywhere else. It’s important when you hire a photographer that you get someone who is both experiencedView full post »

Kuala Lumpur Tower Wedding at Menara KL

Victor and Yu-ying’s wedding was held at the Menara KL, also known as the Kuala Lumpur Tower. Celebrating on top of KL tower has its own unique challenges. Its a very long way down. Destination Beach Wedding at the Four Seasons Langkawi

Nice Day for a Wild Beach Wedding at the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi

Reg and Lisa chose to celebrate their day with a destination beach wedding at the Four Seasons Resort in Langkawi. It is easily my favourite beach wedding location. The afternoon kicked off with a Chinese Tea Ceremony in the Rhu bar. We then went to the Spa for wedding portraits before getting ready for the sunset beach wedding. As can be seen in a couple of the photos the sun was very low in the sky before we even got started, so the portraits were mostly photographed in the twilight.  TheView full post »

Wedding at Four Seasons Langkawi – Dominic and Lauren

Dominic and Laurens wedding at the Four Seasons Langkawi. This is a second post on this wedding, a transfer from my old site which has more than 100 more photos. Dominic and Lauren’s wedding at the Four Seasons Langkawi

Dominic and Lauren contacted me to be their wedding couple for their destination beach resort wedding…at where else? The Four Seasons Langkawi. They were a really very sweet couple and had a touching wedding on the beach conducted by one of their friends who flew in from the USA.  Lauren had thought things out well. She had brought print outs on how she wanted her hair and make up to look which really helped the makeup and hair stylists. Another great idea was printing out name badges forView full post »

A wedding in City Harvest Church KL and dinner at the Holiday Inn Glenmarie

Kevin and Monica’s wedding was at the first City Harvest Church in Subang. The old building was never a great place to shoot, with everything  dark and blue, there being no windows whatsoever and the sewage aeration ponds across the road. Not nice! This is quite different from their new location which is such a nice set up for weddings that it is difficult to get a bad photo there. Despite that, it was always a favorite church to shoot in, being one of the more lively andView full post »

Andrew and Joanna’s Wedding at the Clandeboye Lodge, Bangor, Ireland

The boys having fun in their kilts Andrew and Joanna contacted me to come over to Northern Ireland to be their wedding photographer. We had shot for some of their friends down here in Malaysia, where they met us the first time,  and they loved our work so much (or maybe it was our comparatively cheap prices) that they were very keen for us to pop on over to Ireland. We stayed in a fantastic place in central Belfast called Benedicts Hotel. If you are headed to Belfast I  thoroughly recommendView full post »

Shoot for Top Gear Magazine of the Bufori Latoya in Kuala Lumpur

Top Gear Magazine reviews the Bufori LaJoya

Serious driving through the narrow twisting roads Top Gear and another auto magazine sent journalists to Kuala Lumpur to do write ups and a review the Bufori’s flagship La Joya. We took the team out to a kampung and let them loose so they could put the car through its paces and have some fun. Getting it’s tail to let go so it would drift the corners was made all the more exciting due to the narrowness of the road. Inspecting the car before heading off The Production line.View full post »

Destination Wedding Photographer Datai, Langkawi

David and Nicki – Wedding at the Datai Langkawi

The beautiful wedding couple at the Datai, Langkawi David and Nicki called me to ask whether I could be their photographer for their wedding at the Datai resort in Langkawi. This is a beautiful location for beach weddings and is fairly secluded from the rest of the resort. Having the wedding in the evening meant we could photograph some lovely portraits as the sun set. It was a lot of fun and we all got tanned!   Originally posted 2009-03-26 09:10:59.View full post »

Malay wedding akad nikah in Kuala Lumpur of Maryam and Hezran

Maryam and Hezran’s Malay Wedding Nikah

Maryam and Hezran: Maryam looked absolutely splendid at her Akad Nikah (Malay wedding) in Kuala Lumpur. One of the things to notice with this wedding is that there were three of us shooting it, each in a different place so as to maximise coverage, as typically there is no room to manoeuvre during the wedding.  I was inside the “L” shaped room in one of the corners so I could shoot the ceremony and guests by simply swivelling, one of my colleagues  (John Woo) was ensconced in theView full post »

Danny and Kirsty’s Wedding – Chinese Tea Ceremony and Banquet at the Sunway resort hotel

Wedding on Penang Hill

Stunning Chinese Styled wedding on Penang Hill

Amy and Henry’s wedding ceremony and dinner were on top of Penang hill. They had a TROPICAL 60’s theme. This wedding was notable for absolutely STUNNING views coupled with what has to be the most precarious tea ceremony I have covered so far. I was hanging on from the out side of the small venue.
