WHO WE ARE:
We are a group of dedicated professionals who are passionate about photography. Most, if not all of us, run our own successful wedding and/or photography businesses, coming together under Grant's name as our banner. Grant shoots at almost all weddings (Christmas, Easter and family birthdays are the major no-shoot days for Grant!). ALL images, regardless of who shot them, go through his own personal editing so as to give the consistent look and feel.
Grant Corban Wedding photography specialist from New Zealand. Has lived in Asia for more than half his life, and been in Malaysia for more than 15 years. A widely traveled passionate photographer for over 20 years , he has done a bit of everything in the photographic sense, but inevitably returns to his favorite subject, people having a great time at weddings. I believe the key to our success has been that I treat every wedding as though it was my own. I go 100% to capture the images I would want to remember if it were my wedding. I also adhere to Henri Cartier Bresson's philosophy of capturing the critical moment. I interpret this to anticipate the height of emotion of any sequence of action during the day, as well as trying to capture the beauty every woman has within her.
Lim Hock Seng - Owner: Silver Gelatin: One of Malaysia's foremost fine art practitioners. Many
black and white enthusiasts in Malaysia have either been under his tutelage, or
aware of him through his fine art exhibition work. Regularly shoots with large
format equipment, and is a regular contributor at local art exhibitions. In
1999, he was selected to represent Malaysia at an exhibition in Frankfurt,
Germany. Hock Seng brings with him more than 15 years of photographic experience
in the field of fine-art, portraiture and landscapes.
John Woo - Owner Federal Photo: Not the movie director!
Johnny is the owner of Federal Photo. He is our technical specialist and general
whiz kid when it comes to lighting and technical knowledge.
Style of Shooting: We believe being versatile is more important than being pigeon holed under a current "trendy" label so we use a variety of techniques at your wedding. It depends on what is appropriate for the moment. We shoot:
Wedding photojournalism
Available light
Classical portraiture.
Multilight setups for formals and location lighting
There I hit all the buzz
words for those who read bridal mags :-)
Anticipation of what we want to capture, and knowing where the action will be is
important as a wedding usually does not provide second chances to
take a shot. This gives us a
seemingly relaxed and laid back approach to shooting which makes good wedding
photography look easy. We tend to be the
"fly-on-the-wall" at your wedding. Unobserved yet ever watchful for
great emotions to capture.
Our Laurels: While
"blowing one's own trumpet" runs counter to my life philosophy, people
do ask. think a far better testimonial is found by looking at our photography as
illustrated on this here or reading what is
written here.
But for those who need it...our work has been used by the following:
Astro & NTV7
Style Weddings
Harpers Bazaar
L'Prestige
Malaysian Bridal Guide
Weddings Malaysia
New Straits Times
The Star
University of Maryland
Commercial clients in the US and Australia
We also fly world wide to cover weddings. Now that that is "all over", I need to reiterate we believe a photographer is only as good as their last shoot. This is all the motivation we need to excel.
